L. E. (Leland Exton) Modesitt, Jr was innate within 1943 in Denver, Colorado. He graduated from either Williams College. He sleep in Washington, D.C. for 20 years, then moved to New Hampshire in 1989 where he met his wife. It relocated to Cedar City, Utah in 1993.

Antecedently, he has worked as a Navy pilot, lifeguard, delivery boy, unpaid radio disc jockey, real estate agent, market research analyst, director of research for a political campaign, legislative assistant for the Congressman, Director of Legislation and Congressional Relations for the U.S. EPA, a consultant on environmental, regulatory, and communications issues, and the college lecturer and writer in residence.

He is an creator of mostly Science Fiction and Fantasy Novels and is known better for the fantasy series "The Saga of Recluce." Additionally to his novels, Mr. Modesitt has published technical indicator studies & articles, columns, poetry, and the total of science fiction stories. His number 1 story was published in 1973.
